Shareware Installation Instructions: ------------------------------------ Use Windows 3.1 File Manager or Windows 95 Explorer to create a directory or folder on your hard disk for the program (make sure you start at the root directory or topmost folder of the drive), preferably creating one called C:\WINASTRO -- this name is recommended but not required. Move the ASTWIN22.ZIP file to the \WINASTRO directory. Use a file unzip program to extract the contents into the \WINASTRO directory. If you have the PKUNZIP.EXE program in one of the directories in your AUTOEXEC.BAT Path statement, and have made the WINASTRO directory the current directory in File Manager or Explorer, you can enter PKUNZIP ASTWIN22 in Run at File Manager's File menu or at the Windows 95 Start menu. Press the F5 function key to refresh the File Manager window. Double-click on the INSTALL1.EXE file -- this will add the Halloran Software program group and astrology item icons to your Windows desktop. Troubleshooting --------------- If Windows tells you that it cannot find the VBRUN300.DLL file, then use File Manager or Explorer to search your entire system for VBRUN300.* If you find VBRUN300.ZIP or VBRUN300.DL_ then these are compressed files from which you must extract VBRUN300.DLL (with PKUNZIP, etc. or with the Microsoft EXPAND program). Copy VBRUN300.DLL to your Windows\System directory. If you do not have the VBRUN300.DLL file, obtain it from the same source from which you obtained the ASTWIN22.ZIP file. VBRUN300.DLL is the Visual Basic run-time dynamic link library, version 3. It is needed to run any program you get that was written with version 3 of Visual Basic. You could have many such programs, so it is best to put just one instance of this large library in your Windows\System directory where all VB programs can find it. If you get a message that a VBX file (such as GRID.VBX, COMMDLG.VBX, or THREED.VBX) is out of date, this is usually because an outdated file is in your Windows directory. If a more recent version is in your Windows\System directory or in the astrology directory, then disable the file in the Windows directory by renaming it (e.g., with *.SAV instead of *.VBX) and copy the latest version to the Windows\System directory. Then restart Windows and try to run our program again. Welcome to the Program ---------------------- Astrology for Windows and its parent AstrolDeluxe for Windows are able to do amazing things that are only possible within the Windows environment. These programs give you better color printing than any program for the DOS environment. The drop-down list boxes provide convenient access to data such as your saved charts, geographic data, and time zones. Other list boxes let you scroll natal and transiting aspects and copy this text data to the Windows clipboard. You can use the clipboard to copy and paste the planet and house positions in numerical form into a Windows spreadsheet. Via the clipboard, you can paste graphic wheels into resizable frames in a Windows word processor. The program will even automatically resize the detailed color Atlas maps, the graphic chart displays, and the Natal Information screen for whatever screen resolution you have Windows set. Astrology for Windows includes context-sensitive Windows Help. This means that help specific to any point in the program is available just by pressing the F1 function key. If you want to read the manual, select Contents. To search for help on a specific program area, select Search and type in the name of the desired function or topic. Select File and Print from the Windows Help menu to print any one topic for later reference.
